Project for Painted Patio Pavers

Materials

• Paver planters cost just a few dollars to make and require very little time. A single planter needs only five 12-inch square pavers, extra-strong glue and leftover craft paint or a small can of outdoor paint. A more ambitious project, a painted paver walkway leading to a border of paver planters flanking the house, is another modest investment that returns major curb appeal.

Durability

• Patio pavers are practically indestructible and, if you use a strong construction glue to attach them, will last for many seasons. A square planter of painted pavers is heavy enough to withstand the strongest wind and is an appropriate choice for a small, decorative tree that needs a stable base for support.

Versatility

• Use outdoor paint on single-color or intricately hand-painted pavers to keep them brighter longer. When glued together, they form single planters, a garden wall or a fence of planters, a minimalist fountain in a rock garden or a stack of boxes turned sideways to hold potted plants. Individual pavers, painted with inspiring words or garden motifs, work well as stepping stones.
