Locate an area of your garden that receives full sun and has rich, loamy soil.
Prepare the selected area by tilling the space to a depth of 4 to 6 inches. Add 1 inch of compost over the tilled area and work the material into the soil.
Create rows 12 to 14 inches apart and 1 inch deep in the prepared soil using the handle end of a hoe.
Space the seeds 3 to 4 inches apart in the rows.
Cover with 1/2 to 1 inch of soil. Water until the soil is moist if no rain is expected in the following day or two.
