How to Plant Burpee Anise Seeds

Burpee anise seeds, when available, grow to around 24 inches in height if they are given the right growing conditions. Both the leaves and the seeds of the anise plant can be used to flavor culinary dishes.

      Locate an area of your garden that receives full sun and has rich, loamy soil.

      Prepare the selected area by tilling the space to a depth of 4 to 6 inches. Add 1 inch of compost over the tilled area and work the material into the soil.

      Create rows 12 to 14 inches apart and 1 inch deep in the prepared soil using the handle end of a hoe.

      Space the seeds 3 to 4 inches apart in the rows.

      Cover with 1/2 to 1 inch of soil. Water until the soil is moist if no rain is expected in the following day or two.
