Uses for a Garlic Roaster

A garlic roaster is a clay pot used to roast a whole bulb of garlic to perfection. Typically, you cut the top off the bulb, add olive oil and spices and place the garlic in the roaster. After you've left it in the oven for a short period of time, the garlic is brown, soft and flavorful.
  1. Spreading

    • Use the garlic roaster to prepare roasted garlic for spreading on different foods. Once it's completely roasted, the garlic is soft and smooth, with the consistency of butter. As such, you can use a knife to spread the garlic onto crackers, toast, vegetables and anything else you feel the garlic flavor would complement.

    Pizza Toppings

    • Once you've successfully cooked the garlic in the roaster, carefully remove each clove from its peel and place it on a pizza prior to cooking. If desired, you can cut the garlic cloves in half or spread them onto the pizza, but using whole cloves gives a zesty flavor to any type of pizza.

    Sauces

    • Although you can add fresh or powdered garlic to many different kinds of sauce, roasted garlic can give different sauces a pleasant, roasted flavor. If you're making a cream sauce, for example, add roasted cloves of garlic to the sauce during cooking to enhance the sauce's flavor. You can also garnish dishes of pasta with whole cloves of garlic, to give an extra snack to garlic lovers.

    Dips

    • If you add diced fresh garlic to a dip, it can occasionally give the person eating it a sharp garlic flavor. To mute the intensity of the garlic in the dip but still keep the taste, add roasted garlic cloves to the dip. Instead of dicing them, you can simply crush them into the dip, as they soften during the roasting process. Plain mayonnaise, for example, can be augmented by crushing several roasted garlic cloves into it.
