How Soon Does Grass Green Up With Vigoro Weed & Feed?

Preparation

• Prior to applying the Vigoro Weed & Feed product, be sure the grass is at an adequate height, at least 2 inches for brand-new lawns. Do not use the treatment directly after mowing the lawn; give it a few days for the weeds to start growing again as this product only works when weeds are actively growing. Check your local forecast before applying the treatment and be sure you have at least two dry days, following treatment, to ensure the product stays on the lawn for an adequate amount of time.

Application

• Spray Vigoro Weed & Feed on a wet lawn, right after a rain shower or daily watering. The moisture allows the product to adhere to the leaves of the plants so it can work effectively. One quart of Vigoro Weed & Feed will treat 5,000 square feet in the northern part of the U.S. and 7,500 square feet in the southern part of the country. Walk backward, as you spray, so that you are not walking in the chemicals. Overlap your rows slightly to ensure even and continuous coverage.

Frequency

• Vigoro Weed & Feed is meant to be used annually due to its slow-release formulation. It may be used any time of the year that weeds are actively growing, though it is usually advisable to treat lawns in the autumn. Vigoro Weed & Feed may not provide all the nitrogen your lawn needs and is meant to supplement your regular fertilization routine.

Warnings

• Vigoro Weed & Feed should not come into contact with skin or clothes. If it does get on your skin, rinse the area continuously for 15 to 20 minutes. If it is ingested or gets into your eyes, call your local poison control hotline immediately. Avoid use on windy days to keep it from getting on yourself or nearby ornamentals or trees as it can damage these plants. Use a heavier spray if drift onto nearby plants becomes an issue. Vigoro Weed & Feed is lethal to aquatic invertebrates so avoid getting any into the water supply.
