Physical Control

Keeping zoysiagrass cut short and unable to produce seed helps control the reproduction of the grass, making future generations unlikely to emerge. Regular lawn mowing helps keep the zoysiagrass from setting seed each year.
Planting

Seeding other types of competitive grass or planting other things, including shrubs, flowers and trees, in the lawn helps reduce the area where the zoysiagrass can grow. Other grass types help crowd out and replace the existing zoysiagrass.
