How to Start a Gas Mower With a Key

Most gas lawn mowers have a complicated number of steps just to start the machine, from pulling on the cord to ensuring the fuel mixes correctly so you can start mowing. Lawn mowers with electric starters avoid this problem since they work like a car. Instead of pulling the cord, you can start your lawn mower with a key. The key signals an automatic choke that mixes the fuel on its own. Electric start gas mowers with keys are fairly standard nowadays.

      Place the key in the gas lawn mower with an electric start.

      Turn the key right to start the lawn mower.

      Push and guide the lawn mower to mow your lawn.

      Lift the stop mechanism on your electric start gas mower to stop the lawn mower. The stop mechanism in the small bar below the handle that acts as an emergency kill switch. Lifting the bar stops the lawn mower automatically.

      Turn the key to the left and pull it out of the lawn mower's keyhole.
