Stone Planters

• Whether you go for an old planter that has already seen its share of use or opt for a custom-made stone planter that is crafted by a professional, stone planters can add rustic charm to any garden or home. While they are heavier and less versatile than common clay planters, they are also more durable and are generally used for long-term gardens if you plan to set the stone planter in one place and leave it for years to come.

Oak Cradles

• Oak cradles are old oak barrels used for whiskey or wine that have been cut in two lengthwise to create cradles for larger plants or groups of plants. Two or three feet are generally installed on the bottom of the cradle to keep it from rocking back and forth. For a rugged look, oak cradles are a perfect choice, although once they are filled with dirt, they are extremely heavy. Make sure you are happy with the cradle's placement before filling it with your chosen plants.

Oak Tubs

• Oak tubs are similar to cradles in that they are built from old oak barrels, but rather than being cut lengthwise, they are two halves of a barrel that has been cut through the center around the diameter of the barrel. They are common when used with wagon wheels to create an Old West or farmhouse feel, and can be filled with either small trees and bushes or multiple smaller plants.

Wishing Well Planters

• Wishing well planters come in a variety of sizes and colors, depending on your personal preferences. They can be semifunctional, with actual pools of water inside and working fountains, or they can be purely decorative. They can be built out of any number of materials and are ideal as a centerpiece for any garden or lawn area.
