How to Make Orchid Hangers

Hang orchids vertically on a tree branch and in a humid spot to best replicate their natural environment.

• Ceiling hook

     Use scissors to cut a section of cork or a hardwood tree branch with rough bark to make a mount. The mount's surface should be large enough to hold the orchid's roots.

     Screw one or more ceiling hooks into the top of the mount, depending on its weight.

     Soak the mount in water for 12 hours or more.

     Spread the orchid roots over the mount, and secure them with fishing line. Tie them tightly, but not so tightly that the line cuts into the roots.
