Stihl is a company that produces an extensive range of chainsaws and power tools popular for gardening and DIY projects. Problems with chainsaws range from a faulty spark plug to a clogged air filter or a blocked or damaged gas tank. Serious faults should be dealt with by an expert, but there are steps you can take to combat any issues you have.

      Check the spark plug to ensure it is not damaged or broken. Do this by removing the spark plug's rubber adapter before removing the spark plug itself with a wrench. Have a damaged spark plug removed straight away.

      Clean the air filter with a damp rag and a toothbrush (for the hard-to-reach areas.) Remove as much debris from the air filter's screen as you can. Replace the filter if it is too dirty and/or damaged.

      Inspect the gas tank. Remove the cap from the tank and look for any clogs or debris, which should be cleaned away. Check the fuel lines for cracks or holes where fuel might escape.
