How to Use Ultragreen 15-30-15?

Ultragreen 15-30-15 is a trademarked brand-name fertilizer that is produced by the Lilly Miller company. The 15-30-15 represents the percentage by weight of the nutrients N (nitrogen), P (phosphorous) and K (potassium) that the fertilizer contains. Nitrogen promotes green, leafy growth, phosphorous promotes blooming and root development, and potassium promotes overall health in the systems of the plants. Because Ultragreen has a high amount of phosphorus, it is specifically formulated for use on blooming plants.

Instructions

    • 1

Clear the soil's surface of leaves, twigs and debris in your existing vegetable or flower beds. Pull any weeds and loosen the surface of the soil using a rake.

    • 2

Spread Ultragreen 15-30-15 fertilizer at a rate of 1 1/3 cups per 50 square feet evenly over the soil of your vegetable garden or flower beds. Spread the fertilizer in a wide band around trees or shrubs, keeping it at least 6 inches away from their trunks or stems. Position the ring of fertilizer under the outer edges of their canopies.

    • 3

Mix the fertilizer into the soil with a rake or shovel to a depth of 4 to 6 inches. Water the area thoroughly with a garden hose to activate the fertilizer.

    • 4

Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of Ultragreen to the bottom of the hole when transplanting annuals or perennial bedding plants, bulbs or roses. Mix the fertilizer into the soil. Add 1 inch of soil into the hole over the fertilizer before setting the plant's roots inside. Bury the plant's roots or bulb in the hole and water around it thoroughly with a watering can.
