Switch off the Homelite chainsaw and allow it to cool before working on the oiler system. Unscrew the clutch cover's two bolts, using the wrench. Take the clutch cover, bar and chain off the saw.
Separate the bar from the chain. Hold the guide bar, nose up, and run the tip of a knife along the two guide slots. Clean out any compacted oil, dirt and sawdust.
Clean out the two oiler holes at the base of the bar with the knife. Wipe the bar clean with the rag and inspect it for damage that may prevent oil from reaching the chain. Replace a bent, warped or cracked bar.
Unscrew the oiler plate just beside the bar posts. Wipe away the area around the oiler plate and just underneath. Blow compressed air into the oiler nozzle on the saw and the two oiler holes on the guide bar. Open the oil tank and drain all oil into the container.
Clean the inside of the tank with the rag and brush. Check the tank and cap for damage. Turn the chainsaw over and turn the automatic oiler screw all the way towards the "+" sign. Reassemble the saw. Start the engine and check if the automatic oiler is working again.
