DIY Wood Garden Tool Hanger

Keep your rakes, shovels and other garden tools stored neatly with the use of a garden tool hanger. A garden tool hanger hangs your tools against the wall of your garden shed or garage and keeps them off of the floor. Garden tool hangers like these make it easy to get your tools in and out of your storage area when you need your tools quickly. Build your own simple garden tool hanger using pine construction lumber and dowels.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay your board flat and drill four pairs of 1-inch deep holes that are 8 inches apart. The holes within each pair are two inches apart and centered across the length of the board, three inches away from each 48-inch edge.

    • 2

Insert a dowel into each hole and screw a 3-inch screw through the opposite side of the board into each dowel. The dowels will hold your garden tools.

    • 3

Position your garden tool hanger against the wall of your garden shed or garage so it is horizontal and level. Make sure its height is tall enough to hang your tallest garden tools. Screw six 4-inch screws through the board and into the studs in the wall. Use two screws for each stud.

Hang your rakes, shovels and other tools between the dowels so the handles hang down toward the floor.
