Hold one end of a garden hose and cut its tip flush with utility scissors. Hold a hose end quick connector and plug its small end into the opening at the tip of the hose. Using your right hand, grab the garden hose by its neck and then place the end of the connector against your left palm. Push both hands strongly against each other to drive the hose connector all the way into the hose.
Wrap the threaded end of the hose connector with several rounds of thread seal tape to prevent any leaks. View the threaded opening at the base of the plastic nozzle and check the rubber gasket embedded inside, to make sure that it is in place when you plug the connector into the nozzle. The rubber gasket serves as a seal that prevents water from passing between the threads of the connector.
Plug the threaded end of the connector into the opening at the end of the PVC nozzle; then firmly twist the nozzle clockwise to attach it securely to the hose. Plug a hose end connector into the other end of the hose and then screw the connector onto a faucet.
Slip a stainless steel hose clamp onto the hose and position the clamp around the neck of the connector. Tighten the clamp screw clockwise by hand, until the clamp is firmly seated. The clamp will ensure that the hose connector will not slip loose under the pressure of the water inside the hose.
Tie a piece of nylon rope around the garden hose attached to the faucet -- about a foot down the line from the connector -- then tie the rope around the pipe immediately below the faucet. The nylon rope will prevent the plastic connector from breaking when you yank on the hose. Turn on the faucet to test the PVC tapered nozzle.
