How to Replace the Fuel Line in Husqvarna Chainsaws

The fuel line in Husqvarna chainsaws connects the fuel tank to the carburetor, allowing fuel to flow to the combustion chamber. Made of plastic, this small hose can easily get clogged, kinked or ripped for any number of reasons. This hose will also get dirty after several seasons of use. Old or bad fuel can also cause the fuel hose to need replacing. When fuel no longer reaches the carburetor in a Husqvarna chainsaw, the plastic hose will need to be replaced.

Instructions

    • 1

Drain all remaining fuel from the chainsaw into an approved fuel container. Run the chainsaw until all fuel has been burnt up and it shuts off. Unscrew the top cylinder cover.

    • 2

Take the air filter off its mounting post. Unscrew the air filter box from the top of the engine. Close the choke lever on the side of the chainsaw. Unscrew the choke cover plate’s two mounting screws, just on top of the carburetor.

    • 3

Unhook both fuel hoses from their elbow connectors on the carburetor’s sides. Bend the wire into a hook and pull the fuel filter out of the tank with the metal hook. Continue pulling the fuel hose out of the chain saw.

    • 4

Cut off a 10 inch section of fuel tubing and cut one end into a 45 degree taper. Push the tapered end through the hole near the carburetor. Continue pushing until the tubing reaches the fuel tank.

    • 5

Reach in and pull the fuel tubing into the tank opening with the metal hook. Cut off the tapered end. Press the nozzle of the replacement fuel filter into the fuel hose and press them back into the tank’s bottom.

    • 6

Pull the secondary hose out from the backside of the saw, near the carburetor. Repeat the same process for the secondary fuel hose. Reassemble all other parts in reverse order.
