How to Completely Clean a Husqvarna Chain Saw

Your Husqvarna chain saw is a precision machine. Like all precision machines, it needs regular maintenance to keep it working at maximum efficiency and prevent unnecessary wear to the engine and other components. Cutting wood naturally creates a lot of dust that can clog the parts of your Husqvarna chain saw. Cleaning your chain saw after almost every use will prevent damage and extend the life of your chain saw motor and components.

  • Chain tool

      Locate the nut on the muffler for the spark arrestor screen. Remove the nut with an Allen wrench and pull out the spark arrestor screen. Clean the screen with a wire brush to remove all debris.

      Insert an Allen wrench into the chain tension nut and turn it to loosen the chain. Run a stiff wire brush along the bar to remove any gunk out of the chain groove.

      Insert the wire brush into the grooves where you lubricate the chain to remove any built up debris.

      Remove the screw from the muffler filter cover. Clean the filter with warm, soapy water and allow the it to air dry before placing it back into the chain saw.
