How Do I Get a Bump Feed for a Toro 10-inch Cut Electric Trimmer?

The Toro 10-inch electric trimmer uses the same spool that their other electric models use. Although the 10-inch trimmer is no longer manufactured in an electric model, parts are still available at most home improvement centers and Toro dealers. The bump feed is part of the trimmer line spool. Getting a bump feed for a Toro 10-inch cut electric trimmer requires removing the existing spool and taking it to the store to match a prewound replacement.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the extension cord from the Toro electric trimmer. Place the trimmer on its side so that you have access to the trimmer spool.

    • 2

Hold the trimmer spool by its side with one hand. Twist the cap on top of the spool counterclockwise with your free hand. Remove the cap from the spool.

    • 3

Lift the spool out of the Toro trimmer. Remove any remaining string from the spool. Take the spool to a home improvement center or Toro dealer for a replacement prewound spool.

    • 4

Insert the new spool into the Toro trimmer head spool housing with the end of the trimmer line inserted through the eyelet in the housing. Hold the trimmer spool and twist the cap over the spool in a clockwise direction.
