Unscrew the spark plug from the snow blower using a socket wrench to prevent the snow blower from starting while working on it.
Remove the five hex screws from the belt keeper cover on the side of the machine. Pull on the cover to remove it.
Press down on the idler pulley to adjust the belt and align it properly so that the groove on the belt runs smoothly along the pulley wheel.
Pull out the belt if it is broken. Push down on the idler pulley in the middle of the machine to replace the belt. Put the belt on top of the auger pulley toward the top of the machine. Thread the belt around the engine pulley at the back of the machine. Thread the lower part of the belt around the second auger pulley at the front of the machine and release the idler pulley.
Place the cover for the belts back on the machine and replace the five hex screws.
