How to Sharpen a Blade for a DeWalt Saw

A DeWalt saw is used to cut various items, from wood to concrete, depending on the type of saw you use. Saw blades have sharp teeth with a beveled edge on one side or both sides. The beveled edge allows a smooth, even cut that helps prevent damage to the item you're cutting. Over time, your DeWalt saw’s blades may become dull and require proper sharpening to properly cut once again. Resharpen your blades as often as necessary.

Vice
Metal-sharpening file
Lubricating oil (optional)
Lint-free cloth (optional)

Instructions

  Place the DeWalt blade, with the teeth facing up, into a vice grip. Secure the vice on the blade as tightly as possible. Don't allow the teeth to clamp, only the face of the saw.

  Start at one end of the blade and file the beveled side. Follow the angle of the first tooth. Do not try to reshape the tooth, but simply file the edge of the blade.

  Glide the file along the beveled edge, in a back-and-forth motion, while using medium force. Repeat about four times on the tooth.

  Continue to file all the teeth on the saw.

  Turn the blade around if the beveled edges are on both sides of a tooth.
