Clean the entire surface with some old rags and white vinegar to remove any bird droppings and dirt from the bird bath. Rinse it well with a garden hose.
Place the tiles on a flat surface and place a towel over top of the tiles. Hit the tiles gently with a hammer breaking them into small pieces. If you prefer, you can use old broken china found at garage sales and thrift stores. Either way, the application is the same.
Apply the broken pieces onto the birdbath by squirting a small amount of the construction adhesive onto the back of each piece. Place them on in random order fitting them together like a jigsaw puzzle. You can use tile nippers to trim any edges if need be. Let the project dry for 24 hours.
Mix a batch of the tile grout according to package directions. Apply the grout to the birdbath, with a gloved finger, pressing it into all of the spaces between the tiles. Wipe the entire surface clean with a wet sponge. Let dry for 2 days before filling it with water and placing the birdbath back into the garden.
