How to Make a Plastic Mold for a Concrete Urn

There's nothing more satisfying when working in your garden or lawn than seeing your own garden projects come to life. These days you can make everything from your own paving stones to cast leaves using small cement kits available in the garden section of your local hardware store. But when you are ready to take on a big project, you may want to consider making your own flower pots or urns. But first, you want to have a mold to cast them in.

Instructions

    • 1

Sculpt your urn using the polymer clay. Let the clay air dry and harden.

    • 2

Coat the inside of one Styrofoam cooler and the clay form with mold release.

    • 3

Mix your concrete molding rubber according to the directions on the package.

    • 4

Pour the rubber into the cooler. Gently press the clay form halfway into the rubber. Let the rubber solidify.

    • 5

Use a Sharpie marker to mark the line of the mold along the clay form. Gently pull the clay form out of the rubber mold. Remove the mold from the Styrofoam cooler.

    • 6

Repeat the process to cast the other half of the concrete mold.
