Cute Garden Ideas

Whimsical statues and accessories add a sense of fun and gentle humor to a garden setting. Considering how many cute and comical garden statues are available on the market, it makes sense to decide on a theme first, before selecting just the right statues to suit your theme and your garden.
  1. Alice In Wonderland Theme

    • Create an Alice In Wonderland theme in a corner of your garden. So many of Lewis Carroll's fascinating characters lend themselves well to garden statues. An example is the Wonderland garden of Larnach Castle in New Zealand, where visitors can search for the Cheshire Cat, admire the pink Queen of Hearts' chair, and puzzle over the Curious Door. Alice, the White Rabbit and the Mad Hatter are among the most popular characters, so these garden statues are generally easy to find, online and in garden stores. Take pages out of the book when creating garden scenes of Wonderland. The famous tea party scene is fun to recreate with an old garden table that you can paint. Set out mismatched, ceramic teacups and plates, a teapot and tea treats. You could make them yourself using basic products available at your local crafts store, and add fanciful designs.

    Humorous Frogs

    • Frog statues make very cute additions to a garden. If you have a fountain, consider setting one or two small frog figures on the rim. There are numerous statues in resin or other materials of frogs lounging on lily pads, in full song, playing musical instruments, snoozing without a care in the world, and many more. Alternatively, think about adding a frog-theme solar birdbath fountain to your garden. Because the sun powers the fountain, there is no electrical wiring involved, so its placement is very flexible. It features three frogs figures and a lily pad design with a bronze finish. Or you might enjoy an arabesque frog fountain cast in brass, with an attractive verdigris finish. The frog strikes a full arabesque pose, always worthy of a smile.

    Garden Gnomes

    • A hard-working gnome sets a good example, besides being cute.

Garden gnomes bring good luck to homes and gardens, and their purpose is to assist all living things, according to The Artistic Garden website. They originated in Germany in the early 1800s, and arrived in England around 1840. They are endearing, painted pottery figures, little old men with bushy, white beards, wearing pointy caps and working clothes. Their reputation for integrity and hard work precedes them. Gnomes represent the charm of "the old country" and old-fashioned fairy tales. A gathering of garden gnomes would make a delightful garden theme.
