About the Stihl FS 130 R Trimmer

The Stihl FS 130 R lawn trimmer is a professional grade string trimmer. The FS 130 R runs with a two-cycle engine and requires a fuel that's pre-mixed with two-cycle engine oil. This trimmer has more power than a homeowner trimmer, so it can cut thicker weeds and withstand heavier use. It also comes with many different choices for cutting attachments for a number of different trimming jobs.
  1. Engine

    • The FS 130 R trimmer has a piston that's 43 mm and uses an up and down stroke inside the cylinder that's 25 mm. This creates a displacement that's 36.3 cubic centimeters. The engine will idle at 2,800 rpm and run between 7,500 to 5,500 rpm. Its maximum engine speed, before damage will occur, is 10,500 rpm. At 8,500 rpm, the engine will generate approximately 1.4 kilowatts or 1.9 horsepower.

    Ignition System

    • The FS 130 R trimmer uses an electronic magneto ignition system. This system relies on an internal coil with the module to build, hold, and fire the electric charge. The flywheel generates the magnetic energy required to trip that spark. This spark travels up to the spark plug, which on the FS 130 R is a resistor type NGK CMR 6H. The electrode gap on the tip of the spark plug must be set at .7 mm to properly fire the spark.

    Drive System

    • The drive system on the FS 130 R is powered through a centrifugal clutch system. This system uses the centrifugal force from the spinning clutch plates to engage the drive shaft. This drive shaft is housed in a hollow steel tube. This hollow tube, with the engine, has a total length of 850 mm. The entire unit, with the cutting attachment, weighs 5.9 kg. The drive system is supplied with fuel from a tank that's .53 liter.

    Cutting System

    • The FS 130 R's cutting system allows you to change to many different styles of cutting attachments. These cutting attachments include several different styles of nylon cutting line and metal blade cutting systems. The nylon cutting line used in the FS 130 R is .08 inches in diameter and is replaceable through either a pre-wound spool or through bulk replacement line. The line feeding system uses a tap system, which allows you to tap the head against the ground to get out more line. The metal cutting attachments can be filed to keep them sharpened.
