Add the material of your choice to cover your existing shed. This can be siding, cedar shingles or even salvaged lumber.
Attach a decorative roof. Use an awning, a curved roof called a scalloped fascia or a metal roof. You can also use a roof with a different shape than a standard roof, such as a roof that has a triangle peak.
Paint the exterior of the shed. Consider using a bright color such as blue or green to make the shed stand out in the garden. You can also use a color that matches the decorating style. For example, use a cream or soft pink color for a Victorian shed or a brown for a rustic or country shed.
Nail architectural details to the front of the shed. Some options include adding a faux window, shutters or decorative trim. Paint the trim another color that contrasts with the base color.
Accessorize the outside of your shed. Add planters full of bright flowers beside the shed. Attach wooden posts to the shed. Add a small white picket fence in front of it if desired. Hang hanging planters from the shed's roof and place flowers in window boxes.
Paint the interior walls. The type of wall you have dictates whether you use a traditional paint brush or a spray gun. Rub sandpaper against the paint to give it a distressed look. Use one color for the main walls and another color on trim or on a feature wall.
Address the flooring. Paint the floor, add vinyl flooring, add a rug or install tile. Make your floor fit in with the overall design you hope to achieve.
Install storage in the shed. Hang wall organizers to place your frequently used garden tools. Add shelves to house your plants and supplies. Add a potting bench or hutch to help take care of your plants. Cubby holes provide storage and a place for your decorative accessories.
Hang drapes. Hang a curtain rod and soft drapes over all of the shed windows. Lace curtains or sheers give a romantic touch.
Add furniture and accessories. Place a loveseat or table and chairs in the room. Use decorative containers such as planters, wine barrels, galvanized buckets and produce baskets to house your plants. Place charming accessories around the shed, such as pictures on the wall, an ivy covered ladder to the ceiling, bright vases and a tea set.
