Hints for Putting Together an Arrow Storage Shed

A pre-fabricated storage shed is an ideal option if you don't have a garage to store your lawn equipment and other outdoor tools and accessories. Arrow makes storage sheds in several different styles and sizes, so you can choose the model that best meets your needs. The sheds come complete with all of the parts that you need and an instruction manual so you don't need to have any special expertise to put it together. However, assembly can still be somewhat tricky, so it may help to keep a few basic tips in mind as you get to work.
  1. Get Help

    • While assembling an Arrow storage shed is easier than building a shed from scratch, it can still be tricky at points. Getting assistance from family members or friends can make the process much easier. Typically, assembly of the shed goes more smoothly with at least two people working on the project. Having another person help out provides a second set of hands to hold the shed's panels or parts in place while you attach fasteners and other hardware, so you don't have to position yourself awkwardly.

    Wait for Weather

    • You probably wouldn't want to assemble your Arrow shed in the rain, but there are other weather conditions that you should avoid as well. Aim to put your shed together on a day that is clear and calm. If it is too windy, it can be difficult to keep the panels in place. In addition, do not attempt to assemble the shed if the area where you plan to place it is too muddy or wet.

    Inventory Parts

    • Your Arrow shed comes complete with all of the parts that you need for assembly and contains a parts list that explains what each is for. The parts are numbered for easy identification. Before assembling the shed, lay out all the parts on the ground and take an inventory. Go over the parts list and make sure that you have all the necessary components for your shed. Separate the parts by number as well, so you can easily locate the pieces that you need as you assemble the shed. It is also a good idea to examine the fasteners and hardware that come with the shed, so you know how they work when it comes time to use them. If you notice that any parts are missing from your box, contact the store where you purchased the shed or Arrow immediately. Do not attempt to put your shed together if components are missing.

    Consider a Foundation Kit

    • An Arrow storage shed requires a foundation to keep the structure square and level. While you can use several different types of foundations for your shed, including a concrete slab or wood platform, it may be easier to purchase a floor foundation kit from Arrow. The kit is designed specifically for the sheds, and can be assembled more quickly than a wood platform or concrete slab. The foundation should be filled with sand or used to support a plywood deck for the most stable shed.
