Generally, once a shed is built and secured to the floor or ground it is going to stay there. However there are times when you may need to move that shed to different location. Moving it to a new location in your backyard is fairly straightforward, but if you are moving the shed to your new home then moving it on a trailer is the best way to do it. With some planning you can ensure the trailer and shed arrive in the same condition they left in.

  Measure the footprint of the shed and the interior floor space of the trailer. You want to ensure that the trailer you are using is large enough to accommodate the shed you are transporting. You also need to be aware of the height of the shed and any obstacles you may encounter along the way. After the shed has been secured to the trailer be sure to measure its height from the road to the peak of the shed. Write this number down and keep it in the car or truck for quick reference should you encounter a low bridge along the way.

  Position the shed evenly over the axel. You want the axel of the trailer to be in the middle of the shed to ensure there is an equal amount of weight in front of and behind the axel.

  Position the shed so that it is in the center of the trailer. You do not want the shed to be on one side or the other in the trailer. Keeping the shed in the center will help to alleviate the possibility of it shifting and causing the trailer to roll over during transport.

  Tie the shed down. Attach ropes or adjustable straps, one to each corner of the shed, and attach to trailer. Once the shed is safely tied you are ready to transport it to its new location.
