Indoor Seed Starting
Carrot seeds do not need to be started indoors.
Outdoor Planting
The earliest you should plant carrots outdoors is 3 weeks before the last spring frost. You can then sow successive plantings every 3 weeks.
Growing Season
Spring, summer, fall, and possibly winter.
Seed Storage
To successfully grow carrots from seed, seeds should be used within 3 to 4 years.
Seed Planting Depth
To successfully grow carrots, you should plant carrot seeds at a depth of ½ inch. Plant 2-3 carrot seeds in each hole.
Plant Spacing
Carrot plants should be 2-4 inches apart, and rows should be 18-24 inches apart.
Location
Plant carrot plants in full sun, but they will also grow in partial shade.
Maintenance
To successfully grow carrots, keep the soil moist at all times. Reduce watering when carrots are almost mature, so that they don't grow too quickly and crack.
Seed to Harvest/Flower
Carrots are ready to harvest approximately 10 weeks after you plant the seeds. For tender carrots, harvest them while they are young.
