How to Harvest Blueberry Seeds

Tasty, tart blueberries are healthy fruits loaded with vitamins A, C and E. Inside the blue, globular fruit are tiny blueberry seeds. Start your own blueberry bushes by planting the seeds in an area with rich, moist soil. It usually takes at least two years before blueberry bushes produce fruit, so be prepared to wait. Harvest seeds from blueberries you have collected in the wild or from your grocer's produce section.

Instructions

    • 1

Add the blueberries to the blender. Pour 3/4 cup of warm water into the blender. Place the lid on the water and berry mixture tightly.

    • 2

Blend the berries and water on low for 15 seconds. Let the mixture rest in the blender for 5 minutes.

    • 3

Remove the lid. Pour out a little bit of the mixture. You will see seeds on the bottom and pulp on top. Pour out only a little of the pulp.

    • 4

Add a cup of water and let the berry and water mixture sit for 5 more minutes.

    • 5

Pour off a little more of the pulp very slowly. Add 1/2 cup of water to the blender. Let the mixture rest for another 5 minutes. Continue the process until the blender contents are just seeds and water.

Drain off the water from the blender. Remove the blueberry seeds and let them dry on paper towels.
