How do I Grow Seeds in Paper Towels?

Sprouting seeds on paper towels can be a great way to get them started, watch how they sprout or add a bit of nutrition to your salad. It's easy to sprout seeds, but if you want them to grow into full plants, you'll need to eventually transfer the seeds to soil, either in the ground or in a pot. In just a few days, you can sprout seeds using wet paper towels and a plastic sandwich bag.

      Wet the paper towel. You should thoroughly soak it.

      Fold the paper towel in half.

      Place the seeds on one half of the folded paper towel.

      Fold the paper towel in half again, covering the seeds.

      Place the paper towel in a plastic sandwich bag. Close the bag.

      Set the bag in a warm area. In general, the sun from the windowsill is enough to keep it warm. However, take care that the area doesn't get too cold at night.

      Add more water if the paper towel gets dry. If you notice that the paper towel is getting dry, remove it from the bag, wet it, then place it in the bag again.

      You can grow your own halthy sprouts with a paper towel and a plastic bag.

      Check for sprouts after two or three days. If the seeds haven't yet sprouted, place them back in the paper towel in the bag.
