How to Send a Garden Gnome

Garden gnomes are small figurine statues that originated in Germany around the 19th century. Over time they have spread across the world as a popular yard decoration. Traditionally gnomes are crafted from terracotta and painted once hard, but newer statues may be made from concrete. Because of their small size, usually 6 inches to 2 feet in height, garden gnomes are simple to package and ship.

Instructions

    • 1

Drape the garden gnome in several layers of bubble wrap. Wind the wrap around the gnome in tight passes, paying special attention to any protruding parts of the statue.

    • 2

Place the gnome into a medium-sized shipping box. Fill all empty space in the box with Styrofoam packing peanuts.

    • 3

Seal the medium-sized shipping box with packing tape. Build a thick layer of packing peanuts in the bottom of the large shipping box.

    • 4

Place the medium-sized box inside the large box, and fill all empty space with packing peanuts. Seal the large box with packing tape.

    • 5

Bring the package, along with the shipping address, to your preferred parcel service. Write out a shipping label and place it in a prominent location on the box. Also include a legitimate return address.

    • 6

Give the box to a shipping clerk to have it weighed. Select your desired shipping option (1-day air, expedited or standard) and pay the required fees.

    • 7

Obtain a receipt and leave the package with the shipping clerk.
