• Lawn chairs can be made out of several types of materials. Some of the most popular materials are wood, aluminum, metal, stainless steel and resin. Resin is a plastic-like substance that resists heat and expands and contracts with the temperature. It is also very durable and doesn't need painting.

Features

• Lawn chairs are usually foldable and are characterized by having the seat and back rest area made of vinyl, canvas, cotton or plastic webbing. They come in a variety of colors and range anywhere in price from $15 all the way up to $600 plus for the more heavy-duty varieties. Some lawn furniture also comes equipped with pillows and foot rests.

Identification

• Rockers and hammocks can also be construed as lawn chairs. Rockers are made with durable, wide wooden slats that have a classic look to them. They are heavy duty and resistant to inclement weather.
  Hammocks either come with a four-legged stand or are a rope style which is mounted in between two trees or poles. The material used for the hammock is either woven cotton, polyester or vinyl. There is also a single rope style that is used where space is limited.

Size

• Lawn chairs are all about the same size with the exception of the lounge style chair, most commonly seen around pools. They are designed to fit the whole body, and they go from an upright position all the way to a lying position. These are generally used for sunbathing.
