Remove the surface layer of dirt and grime with a regular washing. Fill a bucket with warm water and mix in a mild detergent such as dish soap or laundry detergent. Thoroughly wet your lawn chair with a garden hose. Soak the scrub brush in the soapy water, and scrub the lawn chair. Rinse with the garden hose to remove residual suds and surface dirt.
Purchase a specialty cleaner to work through stains or dirt and grime buildup. Most supermarkets, hardware specialty stores or home improvement stores will sell biodegradable cleaners that will not harm your lawn.
Apply the specialty cleaner. Amount of product to be used, diluting instructions and cleaning time will vary depending on the product, so read all directions and warnings before using.
Spray WD-40 directly onto the surface of your lawn chair to restore the shine and color. If you have a gallon of WD-40, put some into a bowl and use a cloth to apply to the lawn chair. Wear protective gloves if you wish to avoid direct contact with the WD-40. Wipe the surface clean with a lint-free cloth.
