Instructions

    • 1

Add 1/4 cup liquid dish soap to a bucket of hot water, and scrub your wrought iron furniture with a scrub brush to remove dirt and debris.

    • 2

Rinse by spraying with a hose, removing all soapy residue.

    • 3

Dry your wrought iron patio furniture with a cotton towel or a hair dryer, then let dry completely in a well-ventilated area, preferably in the sunshine.

    • 4

Sand where necessary to remove rust or chipping paint. Sand all the way through the rust to remove it completely.

    • 5

Paint the area with a green rust remover that turns into a black powder if rust is present. Brush off the black residue to remove final traces of rust.

    • 6

Take your wrought iron piece to a professional welder for repair before proceeding if there are broken or weak sections.

    • 7

Apply a rust resistant primer to all surfaces, and let dry thoroughly.

    • 8

Apply two thin, even coats of rust resistant paint, according to the manufacturer's instructions on the can, to cover repairs and brighten your furniture.

    • 9

Let your wrought iron patio furniture dry, undisturbed, in a sheltered area for 24 hours before use.
