How to Make a Gazebo Enclosure for Your Hot Tub

A relaxing addition to any home is the purchase of a hot tub. If currently contemplating either a purchase or an upgrade on an existing hot tub, enclosing it within a gazebo enclosure can add both ambiance as well as privacy. Many styling options are available for purchase. Options of size, roof style and decking can be matched to create a specified look that blends with the surroundings of the hot tub. With style options made, the next focus is the construction of the enclosure.

  • Railing (predetermined style; amount depends upon size of structure)

      Measure around the hot tub.

      Measure and mark the area around the hot tub proportional to the size of the enclosure. Around the edge of the parameter, dig the holes for the support posts and set the forms. Dig and place forms around the edge of the hot tub as well. Place the 16 foot 4-by-4 posts into the center of the forms along the perimeter and pour the concrete mix level around the posts. Place the six-foot posts around the hot tub and pour concrete around them. Once the concrete has hardened, use the 2-by-6 boards and attach a frame around the hot tub. Cut and place the 2-by-6 joists 18 inches from center around the hot tub.

      Cut and nail the waterproof decking around the hot tub. Build or attach pre-made steps to the deck and stain the exposed wood. The decking is complete.

      Cut and place 2-by-4 boarding around the top of the posts.

      Cut and place 2-by-4 boarding around the top of the posts to create the roof frame. With assistance, lift and secure the roof trusses around the frame. Cut and place the slat boarding, beginning at the peak, onto the roof and work downwards. Fit shingles to the roof working from the bottom up. With the roof constructed, apply the weatherproofing stain to all exposed wood.

      Attach decorative wood pieces to the tops of the posts.

      Attach decorative wood pieces to the tops of the posts. Apply stain to all exposed wooden pieces. Measure and mark the locations of the spindles for the railing along the perimeter of the deck. Using a drill, fit the railing along the parameter of the decking using galvanized screws. Stain all exposed wood around the railings. The structure is complete.
