How to Decorate Garden Planters

  Choose the type of planter you want to decorate. The type of planter you use determines what type of decorations you can attach to it. If using a wooden planter, you can attach ornaments with glue. If using a resin or metal planter, paint or stencils may work better.

  Paint or stain your container in a bright color of your choice (if desired). Allow to dry.

  Add decorative accents. Use wooden or metal accents of different shapes to add character to your planter. Paint these accents a color that stands out from the color of your planter. Use wood glue or nails to securely attach the pieces.

  Stencil in some style. Attach the stencil pattern to your planter with tape. Use a stencil brush and paint to fill in the pattern. Allow to dry and apply a second coat if necessary. Remove the stencil and move it to the next desired location on your planter and repeat this step.

  The finished product will be a uniquely and creatively designed planter.
