Garden Center Display Ideas

An attractive centerpiece brings together a garden. Consider what type of space you want to create. Do you want to spend a lot of time there? If so, furniture would be appropriate. Some displays are virtually maintenance free while others, such as garden ponds, require regular attention. Consider how much time you want to spend on the establishment and upkeep of your garden centerpiece.
  1. Fountain

    • A fountain looks attractive and makes a soothing water sound.

A fountain is a soothing centerpiece for any garden. The sound of running water creates a meditative space. It can be inexpensive and easy to make a small fountain yourself using pots or stones already on hand. Fountains of every shape, style and size are also available for purchase.

    Pond

    • Add art to your garden for creativity.

Garden ponds create their own ecosystems and allow gardeners to grow plants such as lotus flowers that normally would not grow in their yard. A garden fountain and a pond can be combined for a backyard oasis. With a little planning, a waterfall isn’t difficult to build. Garden ponds can be a lot of maintenance, especially if you stock the pond with fish like koi or goldfish.

    Recreation

    • Furniture invites people to sit and stay a while.

The center of a garden is an inviting space so why not make it even more so with a resting area. Table and chairs and an outdoor cooking space such as a brick oven or even a small hearth can transform your garden into an outdoor dining area. Lounge chairs provide places to read or rest. Creating a circular pattern with colored bricks, slate or poured concrete will provide a flat space on which to place furniture.

    Natural Display

    • Hedges can be trimmed into whimsical shapes.

Plants can grow to form spectacular displays. Colorful flowers bring light and life into the garden; you can plant flowers to attract hummingbirds, songbirds and squirrels. Plant a tree to provide shade for the surroundings. More exotic features include hedges trimmed into spirals or animal shapes. Herbs such as lavender or rosemary are decorative and provide pleasant, relaxing aromas.

    Fire Pit

    • Antiques are a wonderful touch to an outdoor space.

If you’ve already laid brick or concrete, you can purchase fire pits that sit above the ground. You may also designate a space, dig it out and line it with a circle of stones for a larger fire.
