Instructions

Use fabric and ribbons to add color and interest. For an inexpensive way to add a personal touch to a dull lawn chair, try wrapping the chair with the decorative ribbon of your choice. If your chair has a lattice back feature, you could even weave the ribbon through the lattice. Or, you could tie a bow around the chair’s back or arms and use a hot glue gun to hold it in place.

Spray paint the chairs a color that better coordinates with your space. Before painting, use fine grit sandpaper to rough up the plastic which will help the paint to adhere. Remove any dirt or debris from the chair before applying several even coats of paint.

Add decorative seat cushions. Purchase seat cushions in your desired color and print.

Create slipcovers for your chairs. Place pieces of muslin cloth over the chair’s sides and trace out a template for your fabric. Sew the edges of your cover together inside-out and turn out to reveal a custom slipcover for your chairs.
