DIY Garden Tent

Camping is a fun activity, but sometimes gathering food, a tent, gas and your family can be troublesome, time-consuming and expensive. So why not camp in your own garden with a tent you've made yourself? Constructing a tent in your garden is simple, requires very few materials and can be quite entertaining. Encourage your family to help and make the process even faster.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a flat, soft area in your garden. Remove rocks and sticks from the area on which you intend to pitch your tent. Build your tent away from any flower beds you might have in your garden.

    • 2

Insert two sticks or poles of the same length into the ground, 6 feet apart. Ensure that the poles are secure.

    • 3

Lay a tarp across the two sticks. Make sure that the middle of the tarp is directly on top of the sticks.

    • 4

Pull the tarp's edges in either direction to form a triangular-shaped tent.

    • 5

Place rocks on the corners of the tarp to secure it in place. Larger rocks are heavier and more likely to prevent your tent from falling in the wind.

    • 6

Another option, for added stability, is to use rope or string to tie the suspended edges of the tent to nearby trees.

    • 7

For optional waterproofing, place a second tarp under your tent.
