How to Clean Grit on Resin Chairs

Plastic resin chairs are a low-maintenance seating choice for pool and patio. The lightweight molded chairs interlock when stacked for compact storage. They come in a rainbow of colors, from turquoise blue to match an Aruban ocean to the deep green of a tree-shaded patio. Sand, wind and rain create film and buildup on the smooth seat and chair arms. Clean the chairs after use with a brief wipe of a cloth. For more aggressive grit, use non-abrasive cleaners to remove the grime without dulling their glossy shine.

Instructions

    • 1
      Window cleaner removes surface dirt.

Squirt window cleaner onto a clean rag, and wipe down the chair. This removes dust and surface dirt.

    • 2

Rinse the chair with a hose. Alternately, fill a bucket with water and pour water over the chair with a large plastic cup.

    • 3

      Towel the chair dry.

    • 4

Squirt a small amount of an orange-oil-based cleaner on to a soft clean cloth. Orange oil should remove remaining grit.

    • 5

Spray auto detailer onto another clean cloth or rag. Buff the chair until grit disappears.

    • 6

Apply denatured alcohol to a clean rag to remedy any scuffs left by grit or grime. Rub gently until dark scuff or abrasion mark disappears.
