Building a garden bench does not have to be an elaborate process. Using natural materials such as old logs or stumps adds character to your backyard garden, and you can use this line of thinking to build a simple garden bench that your family and friends will enjoy when they come for a visit. And you can complete your garden bench without having any sort of serious carpentry skills, too.

1
Scout a location for your bench, preferably under a shady tree.
-
2
Use your measuring tape to mark off two spots, 4 feet apart. This is where your posts will go.
-
-
3
Drive the posts into the ground using a sledgehammer.
-
4
Nail your cedar plank to the top of the two posts, making sure the nails are flush in the wood so they will not tear clothes.

5
Place your leveler on your bench. It doesn't have to be perfectly level, but try to make your garden bench as level as possible.
