Dig a hole in the place where the center of your palapa will be. Depending on the size of the palapa, the size of the hole may vary, but for the average palapa, a hole that is 18-24 inches in diameter and 24 inches deep is best.
Mix your concrete in a large bucket according to the directions on the package.
Insert the pole of the palapa into the hole so it is centered and straight.
Pour the concrete into the hole until the hole is about half full. Allow the concrete to set for about 24 hours. Use large rocks or other heavy objects to support the pole to ensure it remains straight.
Place the frame for the umbrella top on top of the center pole of the palapa.
Secure the umbrella frame to the pole using the cordless screwdriver and screws. Some palapas may also come with rafter supports that support the frame to the umbrella. These supports should be screwed into the pole and into each branch of the umbrella frame.
Place the thatch umbrella on top of the umbrella frame. The thatch will come with twine or plastic ties attached, which you must tie to each branch of the umbrella frame to secure the thatch covering.
Fill the rest of the hole with sand or dirt until it is level with the surrounding ground.
