Instructions for a Dixie Outdoor Black Slat Rocker

Dixie Seating Co. (DSC) manufactures rocking chairs for indoors and outdoors. The outdoor models are made from ash wood to keep them from weathering in changing temperatures. The black outdoor rocker has a classic design with a slatted backrest. The arms and seat are contoured for your comfort in the chair. The black outdoor rocker has a protective finish on it to last for years. Dixie rockers are purchased unassembled and require joining of the parts for a completed rocker.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the rocking chair back on the floor with the six pre-drilled holes facing up. Apply the included glue in the bottom two holes on each side of the back. Insert the two spindles without pre-drilled holes in the bottom holes on each side of the back. Insert the two spindles with drilled holes in the next hole on each side of the back above the first spindles.

    • 2

Apply glue to the four holes in the chair front. Insert the chair front holes into the four spindles. Tap the chair front with a rubber mallet to insert it onto the spindles firmly.

    • 3

Place the seat on the chair frame. Place a 1/8-inch drill bit into a drill. Hold the seat firmly on the chair frame and drill a pilot hole through each of the four pre-drilled holes in the frame and into the seat. Insert one 1 1/2-inch screw in each hole and tighten it clockwise with a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 4

Turn the chair on one side. Apply glue to the two holes in one runner. Press the runner onto the chair bottom with the holes to the front of the chair. Tap the runner on with a rubber mallet. Repeat this process to attach the second runner.

    • 5

Turn the chair right side up so it rests on the runners. Apply glue to the remaining hole on the right side of the back and in the hole underneath the right arm. Insert the right arm into the chair back and tap it down with a rubber mallet onto the right side frame. Repeat this step to install the left arm onto the rocking chair.

    • 6

Drill a pilot hole through each pre-drilled hole in the arms and into the frame. Insert one 1-3/4-inch screw in each arm and tighten them clockwise with a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 7

Let the glue dry for 10 hours before sitting in the chair.
