What to Do With Plant Shelves?

Many plant shelves are smaller than regular shelving units, making them functional additions to tight spaces, such as apartments or cottages. Ornate plant shelves can be the focal point of any room in the home.
  1. Themed Bookshelves

    • Turn a set of plant shelves into botany-themed bookshelves. Place a potted ivy on the top shelf and allow it to weave its way around the borders of the shelf structure; fill the shelves with gardening books.

    Bathroom Storage

    • A cast-iron plant shelf in the guest bathroom serves as a functional conversation piece. Place an aloe vera plant or another low-maintenance plant on the top shelf and store towels and other necessities on the lower shelves.

    Kitchen Herb Garden

    • If your kitchen contains a window that gets abundant sunlight, place plant shelves in front of it. Fill the shelves with a small herb garden for instant access to flavorful additions for your culinary creations. Place a few of your most-used cookbooks on the plant shelves, too.
