Creative Lattice Ideas

Lattice panels can stand alone or in conjunction with other outdoor structures. They can be made of wood, vinyl or other types of materials. You can choose one panel, two or more for your home or garden landscape, painting them any color that matches your outdoor decor or home trim. Lattice panels can be unique in screen design, with a variety of different options -- including animal cut-outs.
  1. Lattice Walls

    • Add white lattice walls to a white arbor entrance that leads into your garden or home landscape. Lattice walls on this structure give it a formal look. You can train roses to climb the lattice, or use ivy vines instead, for a flowering or colorful look. Place potted plants or in-ground ones on the outside of the lattice walls to add privacy. Leave enough space between the top of the lattice and the arbor roof or make the walls short, and you can hang potted ferns between the two for another look.

    Lattice Gates

    • Put up a lattice gate that has a deep blue color and a dolphin design. The gate can serve as security to prevent entrance without supervision, or as an opening to your swimming pool or lake pier when unlocked. Choose from other designs in addition to the dolphin one including sailboats, lighthouses, tropical fish, Florida palm trees, blue crabs or a sailing design. Background coloring is typically white, with your lattice design in blue, green, yellow or brown. This depends on the design chosen.

    Lattice Coverups

    • Lattice isn't always used to decorate a structure meant to be visited, such as your garden trellis. Sometimes lattice is used more creatively, to add a pretty cover over an ugly lawn appliance, such as an outdoor air conditioning unit. These outdoor lattice structures can come in black, red, white, beige, green, yellow and light and medium shades of gray and blue. They can also feature any design -- such as lighthouses -- you can find for other lattice uses.

    Lattice Wedding Screens

    • On your big day you need some privacy, especially before you choose to make your groom eat cake. Select a three-panel lattice privacy screen for the backdrop at your wedding reception. You can have Fleur De Lis for the screen design, giving it an elegant and high-end look. The 4-point star design is another simple but tasteful lattice look for wedding receptions, too.
