Indian Summer Flowers

Indian summer flowers are recognized by their bright colors and creative texture. While some of the Indian summer flowers are well known in the west, others are rare and not known as mainstream on the American flower market. Some of these flowers are common in India, while others are more popular as accessories.
  1. Orchids

    • The white orchid is an Indian summer flower that is found in almost all parts of India, according to Eco India. It often dominates the national parks in India. This white flower has straight, thin white petals that surround a small green center. Its stem is long and thin and often bows over once the flower blooms. The orchid can reproduce itself, as it develops shoots every year that eventually grow and bloom when the petals fall off. To survive, orchids need humidity, hot temperatures and some watering.

    Jasmine

    • Another common flower found throughout India is the jasmine. It is a small white flower that grows on long, light green stems that are thin and flexible. When it grows with its small flowers, it looks like a shrub. The flower itself, however, is only about an inch in size. The flower needs regular watering, as it grows in the hot summer months. To grow faster, it requires attention and pruning. The jasmine flower is not one that takes care of itself.

    Crossandra

    • The crossandra flower predominantly grows in Southern India. In this region, the flower is popularly used as a hair accessory, along with the white jasmine flower. The flower comes in yellow shades, light salmon colors and bright orange. The crossandra's leaves are bright green and stand out along with the colorful petals of the flower. To thrive, the crossandra needs fertile soil with partial sun.
