Hand Made Center Piece Decorations

A handmade centerpiece adds a customized accent to your kitchen or dining room table. Incorporate colors and decorations that will be the most meaningful to you and your guests alike.
  1. Size

    • The size of a handmade centerpiece should coordinate with the size of the table so that the accent will not appear too overwhelming. A coffee table centerpiece such as a small vase filled with tulips and baby's breath you've grown in your garden is ideal for a formal living room; a centerpiece shaped like a cornucopia and filled with craft supplies like synthetic dried corn cobs and pine cones makes a lovely Thanksgiving or fall season decoration.

    Significance

    • Your handmade centerpiece can also serve special significance in the room where it is displayed. For instance, bind a group of yellow roses together with satin ribbon and display the centerpiece in the foyer of your home; yellow is the color of friendship, and will signify that your loved ones are welcomed in your home. Or, use a wooden or glass bowl filled with dried fruits and homemade candy in your kitchen to create an edible and colorful centerpiece.

    Considerations

    • Creating centerpieces especially fitting for an occasion will make your venue visually appealing. For instance, if you're decorating for a baby shower, fill glass baby bottles with white flowers to represent innocence or new life, and tie a ribbon around the bottle to denote the gender of the baby; filling the bottles with pink or blue jelly beans is a great idea as well.
