The history of wildflowers starts 50,000 years ago in Northern Iraq, where evidence shows that a variety of flowers existed. Individuals dyed clothes with these flowers and even transplanted them into local flowerbeds and gardens.
Different levels of classification exist for wildflowers. For example, the black-eyed Susan Kingdom is the plant, subkingdom is the vascular plant, superdivision is the seed plant and division is the flowering plant. Further division and species also exist.
While some wildflowers are rarer than others, it is possible to plant wildflowers in your garden. Local nurseries or cooperative extension services may provide you with seeds or plants for these flowers. Attempting to transplant them from the wild may be impossible or illegal.
