Measure the space where you would like to have an artificial plant. The space could include a large plant in an empty corner or a wide bush plant for a large hallway or foyer. Before you purchase an artificial plant, determine the size you'll need by measuring the height, depth, and width of the area. Be sure to also measure the vase or container that will hold the plant.
Browse craft, garden, and home decor stores, as well as online shopping sites, to view the many types of artificial plants available.
View artificial plants in person before purchasing, if possible. If you are purchasing online, ask to see a photograph that provides a close-up look at the plant. While some artificial plants can look realistic, others can look cheap and fake.
Choose artificial plants that are infused with UV protection, when available, so that they do not fade if located near a window or door that gets bright sunlight. Some artificial plants, including Christmas many trees, are also treated with a fire retardant material.
