Camouflage the meter box by painting it a color that matches it's surroundings (the standard gray color it comes in rarely matches with anything). If you're meter box is around a lot of plant life, paint the box green. Try painting the box the same color as your house if it is attached to the side of your home. You can even paint bricks and stones onto the meter box if necessary.

Plant flowers or large shrubs around the meter box. Even if the box is still visible to some extend, tall flowers and shrubbery will sufficiently distract the eye. Common plants that should grow tall enough to block your electric meter box from plain view are the Siberian peashrub, red rum honeysuckle and French pussy willow. Leave enough room between the meter box and the plants for easy access and call your electric company to verify your local ordinances on electric meter accessibility.

Incorporate the meter box into a design or theme you have in your front yard. For example, suppose you have several bird houses in your front yard. Place several, taller bird houses around the meter box to blend the meter box in with the surroundings. Regardless of your theme, you can incorporate the meter box into backyard by adding colors and decorations around it.

Mount a box cover around an indoor electric meter protruding from your wall. The box cover needs to be large about to completely cover the the meter. If the box cover has a glass front, insert a picture to completely hide the meter from view. This will transform the box cover into a piece of artwork and one will know a meter is inside.
