Good Luck Flower Colors

Across all cultures, various colors take on a myriad of different meanings and representations. Even flowers, over the course of history, have absorbed their own significance and symbolism. Whether you're looking to a bring a little luck to your home or pass it on to a friend or family member, a handful of different flower colors are thought to do just the trick.
  1. Bells of Ireland

    • Molucella laevis, more commonly known as Bells of Ireland, is a flowering plant with lusciously green leaves and tiny white flowers ensconced inside the green "bells" of the plant. The plant is not from Ireland at all but gets its name from the vibrancy of its green hue. As many know, the color green brings along with it the connotation of good luck, and this flower in particular is meant to bring good luck. Bells of Ireland is a popular flower used in St. Patrick's Day bouquets.

    White Clover

    • Despite its misleading name, the Trifolium repens, otherwise known as the white clover, is in fact the color green. As with the Bells of Ireland plant, a green four-leaf clover is thought to be an omen of upcoming luck in the near future to whomever may find one. While most clovers grow with only three leaves, white clovers with four leaves---albeit rare---do exist. The white clover is not to be confused with pepperwort, water clover or oxalis. While all three resemble the white clover, they naturally grow four leaves and do not symbolize good luck.

    White Carnation

    • Known scientifically as Dianthus caryophyllus, the carnation is one of the most popular flower types used by florists to create bouquets. The carnation has been around for centuries. Myth even supposes that the first carnation bloomed as Mary wept for Jesus while he carried the cross on his back. As with a rose, each carnation color represents a different meaning. White carnations are meant to symbolize purity, innocence and good luck.

    Pink Heather

    • The Calluna vulgaris plant is more simply known as heather. It is a perennial shrub having flowers that bloom during late summer and sometimes early fall. The flowers of the heather plant can be red, white, pink, purple, mauve or any shade in between. Heather can be grown in gardens or cut to use in flower bouquets. Heather with pink blooms is said to bring good luck.
