Instructions for Roll-and-Grow Flower Mats

A thick and vibrant flowerbed usually requires time and effort. If you lack the time or ability to plant flowers, a roll-and-grow flower mat may be the solution. Designed to ensure successful growing results, a seeded flower mat installs easily onto the soil. Follow the instructions for nearly effortless planting. Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the flower garden area in the spring after the final spring frost. Cultivate the soil lightly -- approximately 2 to 3 inches deep is sufficient for the roll-and-grow flower mat. Rake the soil surface smoothly after you finish cultivating.

    • 2

Roll out the flower mat. Cut it with scissors to make it fit into your garden area precisely, if necessary.

    • 3

Place the flower mat over the soil with the fabric surface facing up and the fiber side facing down. Make the flower mat smooth and wrinkle-free.

    • 4

Water the flower mat immediately after you place it onto the soil. Saturate the flower mat completely and evenly.

    • 5

Check the flower mat twice each day: in the morning and in the evening. Keep the flower mat evenly moist at all times. Water the flower mat both morning and evening, if necessary, to keep it constantly moist.

    • 6

Watch for flowers to germinate in about two to three weeks, and expect blooming flowers in approximately six weeks. Deadhead the blossoms as they fade to encourage continued blooming.
